What are your hours of operation?

We are open for Family drop-in Monday to Fridays 9:30-12:00pm, and an afternoon drop in on Wednesday, 1:00pm-4:30pm. We are closed the last Friday of each month.

In addition to Family drop-in, we offer parent and caregiver courses and workshops. Please refer to our seasonal newsletter for program dates and times.

Is family place open to anybody?

YES. We are open to all families with children between birth and 5 years old. We are a resource center dedicated to supporting families with young children to meet new friends, gain a sense of community, and receive ongoing assistance that helps families raise happy, healthy children.

What ages are the children who come to your drop-in?

WSFP welcomes all families with children between birth and 5 years; however, as children grow older, they begin attending daycares so average age is about 6 months to 3 years.

Do I still have to buy membership if I pay for drop-in each visit? Do I still have to pay drop-in fee if I buy the yearly membership?

Yes, membership is required in addition to the drop-in fee. Membership fee and drop-in fee revenue helps cover the cost of WSFP programs and services.

Is the drop-in fee per child or per family?

The drop-in fee is $3 per family per session.

Do I need to be a member to use the toy lending library?

Yes, having a membership provides you access to the toy lending library.

Who funds the programs?

In addition to membership/drop-in fee revenues, we receive funding from Province of British Columbia, donations from individual and business donors, and host various fundraisers throughout the year.

Do you take clothing donations?

We have clothing exchange boxes where you can drop them off and take some if needed. We take clothing that is suitable for the infant to toddler age group.

Are you a daycare?

We are not a daycare. West Side Family Place is a resource center dedicated to supporting families with young children. It is a place to meet new friends, gain a sense of community, and receive ongoing assistance that helps families raise happy, healthy children.

Are you affiliated with the other family places?

We operate independently but we do have a partnership with the Eastside Family Place, Marple Oakridge Family Place, Mount Pleasant Family Centre, and the South Vancouver Family Place. We are registered not-for profit organizations providing easy to access daily drop-in playroom and parenting programs in welcoming and supportive spaces.

Can I use my membership from the other family places?

The membership can only be used at the family place where you are registered as a member.

What activities can children do in the family place?

We have a well-equipped space with divided areas to accommodate varying types of play and learning. We offer art and sensory based activities, pretend play with house and dress-up.
