ABOUT WEST SIDE FAMILY PLACE
For over 50 years, West Side Family Place has been a welcoming community hub where parents, caregivers, and young children come to play, learn, and connect. Our services strengthen early development, promote social skills and school readiness, and help build family resiliency and strong, connected communities. This position reports to the Executive Director.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Work collaboratively with staff to provide an enriched, stimulating program for families with children birth to six in a culturally diverse community
- Assist in planning and implementing a full range of age-appropriate, developmental activities in a safe outdoor setting
- Support the planning and coordination of community events and celebrations
- Build positive, supportive relationships with parents and caregivers attending the program
- Help connect families with other families, community resources, and the broader community
- Participate fully in all Family Place functions, including general administrative duties as required

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Extensive experience is not required – just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. Assets include:
- Experience working with children and families
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Understanding of issues affecting young children and their families
- Ability to work comfortably in diverse, multilingual settings
- A second language is an asset
ELIGIBILITY
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program, part of the Government of Canada’s Youth Employment and Skills Strategy. All candidates must:
- Be between 18 and 30 years old
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee protection)
- A Police Information Check will be required
