WSFP COVID-19 Update

A Message from Executive Director, Diane Elliott-Buckley:

All of us at West Side Family Place hope that you and your families have enjoyed a safe summer. We have loved seeing many of you at our outdoor and online programs and we know that you are eager to hear what we have planned for the autumn.

Although COVID-19 makes long-term planning challenging, we will continue to look for new ways to welcome and connect families while continuing to adhere to public health advice.

We recently marked the autumnal equinox at McBride Park with a socially distanced picnic. Thank you very much to Aline Laflamme and the Daughters of the Drum, a group of female indigenous hand drummers. It was a time to reflect on the last six months and to consider how we will transition to autumn.

Thank you to everybody who attended Kits in the Park this summer. This program has wrapped up for the year, but we hope you will join us for Outdoor Play and Mama and Papa Goose at WSFP. Our very popular Baby Pop-ups will also continue in local parks for as long as the weather permits. Please see Fall Program Schedule for a complete list of our upcoming programs and registration details.

The pandemic has affected all of our lives but we want to know that your friends at WSFP are here for you. If you find yourself in need of a compassionate ear, or if you require information about other family support services in the community, please reach out. Eva is available and to connect with parents and caregivers by phone or in person.

I would like to express my gratitude to Eva, Sue Ellen, Salena, Maria, Shahira, Hardeep and Tina for their incredible commitment to families throughout the past six months. Thanks, team!

Registration will begin on Monday by phone at 9:00am for all sessions that week, including the Outdoor Play at WSFP, Kits in the Park and Mama Papa Goose. Registration will continue throughout the week from 9:00am to noon until all sessions are full. Please call 604-738-2819. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram for regular updates about program availability.

Before joining us, please review our COVID-19 Safety Protocols.
